Housing Assistance

Rental Assistance is available through a City of Chicago program. Call 311 and press 3 to be directed to an operator.

Rent, mortgage, utility and legal assistance programs are available through the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA).

The Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund overseen by IHDA is a federally-funded program that is dedicated to assisting Illinois homeowners that have struggled to pay their mortgage due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cook County Legal Aid for Housing and Debt (CCLAHD) is a county-wide initiative aimed at helping residents resolve eviction, foreclosure, debt, and tax deed issues through free legal aid, mediation services, case management, and connections to resources.
