July Newsletter - Boletín de julio

Dear neighbors,

This past month, I began door-knocking around the 4th District to hear your stories and understand what you and your family value most. We've stopped by Ukrainian Village and heard a lot about your concerns with the ongoing war and the hardships of transitioning in America. We also stopped by West Humboldt Park and heard that many of you are worried that your families do not have access to fresh and affordable groceries. I hear your concerns and I am using your feedback to shape my legislative priorities for the upcoming year.

I am still walking around the district throughout this month to connect with constituents about our legislative victories and the state budget. It is important that every constituent knows where my office is and how we are here to help. During door-knocking, we are also passing out our Legislative Priorities Survey to get a better idea of what you want me to prioritize as your elected official.

Throughout the summer, keep an eye out for my office at community events as we are prioritizing being out there introducing ourselves and making sure everyone has access to our office contact information and services. I am excited to strengthen my relationship with the community organizations in the district and meet all of you on our journey around the district!

Here to serve,

Lilian Jiménez

4th District State Representative

Estimados vecinos,

Each year, the General Assembly introduces thousands of bill in hopes of passing meaningful legislation to support their district and fellow Illinoisans. I am proud to announce that three of our bills will be heading to the Governor's Desk to be signed into law! It has been amazing to see the legislative process up close and personal. I spoke with several community members, stakeholders, and legislators along the way and together we were able to speak out against major issues in our district. I am excited to continue this work throughout the summer to plan ahead for next year, but I need your help! Please reach out to info@replilianjimenez or call our office at (773) 337-9995 if you have any legislative ideas or concerns in your community because it takes a village to see progress.

Additionally, we passed a balanced budget that is both fiscally and socially responsible. The changes we made to this year's fiscal budget is a win for all Illinois families, workers, students, and community members. The state budget allocates :

  • $2.50 increase per hour wage increase for Direct Support Profressionals (DSP) and frontline workers because the work they do is essential for our community members with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • $100 Million in resources and training for our first-responders to ensure our community is safe.

  • $350 Million is going towards improving our classrooms for Illinois students.

  • $100 Million in new funding for MAP Grants which will provide more financial aid assistance for students pursuing higher education.

  • $22 Million investment for the Workforce Equity Initiative which will provide necessary training and resources to assist Illinoisans to kickstart their careers.
